Default Wet weather, engine issues (with video)

Hi all,

It’s rainy in Holland, so i think that’s the issue of all this.
The engine/injection of my RAM 1500 is grumpy.
I made a video of it and posted it on YouTube.
When i “help” with my right food I can make it work...but...it’s totally the wrong way, I know.
Maybe it’s a common issue, I hope somebody can help me out here.

Thanks in advance

If it only runs bad when it is wet out..... Wait until dusk, on some dry day.... and use a spray bottle to squirt some water around on the plug wires, and such. My bet is, you will see the nice light show.....

I thought also the wires, or distribution cap with rotor. But...when I hit the gas a bit i can run it smooth. Sometimes it’s stuttering then.
That’s my doubt about plug wires or/and cap.
Could it be when it’s wet that the insulation goes real bad and give such errors?

The truck won't idle! That's not an issue with the ignition but most likely the iac. Seems to run ok off idle but if the cap rotor plugs wires are old it won't hurt to replace them. Make sure you get a "oem" style cap, It has brass inserts where the other have aluminum and will corrode in no time.

Yeah, I had the same idea. The intake is maybe to dirty, so when it’s moistures the valve get stuck, i think. Also the motor needs to be cleaned then. Tomorrow, if it’s dry outside, i’ll remove the throttle body and clean all. When it runs idle it runs 600/700 rpm. It’s very low in my opinion, but it’s also a V8...is this normal or has it to do also with the valve?

That's normal for a fully warmed engine.

Well, today cleaned the throttle body and all the electrical connections.
Also installed a new Volant air filter, nice!
So I started it, and after a while the idle engine stalled again. After starting it was running again fine.
Should I order a new IAC? Somebody told me today to check the vacuum hose. What is the purpose of this hose on the throttle body?...and how do I check this?
After all, it was a perfect day just to maintain the RAM :-)

There is a little hose from the base of the throttle body, to the map sensor on the front of the body. If it has gotten dryed out, and brittle, it will leak, and the map sensor won't be accurate. Makes the engine run strange.

If you decide to replace the IAC, get one from dodge. The aftermarket fellers just aren't as good, and give actually introduce more problems than they solve.
