98 brake light fuse blows when I step on the brake.

Default 98 brake light fuse blows when I step on the brake.
I have a 98 3500 Cummings diesel and every time I step on the brake my 20 AMP fuse blows. Any thoughts.

You have a short somewhere. If you have a trailer harness, check where that hits the main rear harness. Known to be a problem area.

I had just installed the tow hitch but not the wiring yet. SO I saw what you said and thought no, that's not it. But I took the unit back off anyways and I discovered that I had pinched a ground wire that was not in the cable harness with the washer bolt.

So, thank you! :-) all fixed and back on the road.
