HEADERS?
What would you suggest header wise I dont care about noise. I do have a price range but I dont want to buy somthing cheap so I just need somthing that will increase my power without breaking my wallet.
THANKS FOR THE HELP!!

i spent 330 on my edelbrock shorty ceramic headers from summit... bolted right up nicley... no leaks yeat but winter just hit so im sure ill be seeing some kind of leaking from the heating and cooling of the motor at such rapid rates.. we'll see... worht every penny!
Im getting mixed opinions my friends are all telling me that they are a waste and all they do is make your truck louder but I think it would be a great investment. So what kind of performance gains did you see when you put them on?
your freinds are retarded... anytime you open up the enxhaust youll gain HP... you really dont add Hp you gain it ... pretty much just bolting on parts that allows the motor to perform where its saposed to.. anyway... bettter off the line response... WAY better upper rpm HP... with my stock tries wheels and 4.10's and just stepped on the gas about 3/4 (right before kickdown/wideopen) and the tires would brake and my lsd rearend would send me fishing all over the road..no matter what road and what kind of weather.. ...and offcoarse the sound...yes you do get more engine noise b/c there is more surface area now for the exhaust to resonate out off...(as aposed the stock manifolds...just one chunk of steel..now its tubes and more surface area will result in more room for the noise to come from.. make sense?) but was worth EVERY penny.. makes my flowmaster sound like a flowmaster on roids... its great... i dont think ill every have a vehicle with out headers... shorty headers do result in less HP and TQ then long tubes.. but as far as i know right now... there isnt a company that makes long tuve headers for 4X4... if thats what you have..if you got a 2X4 then look into getting some longtubes... they provide a considerable amount more of HP and TQ b/c of the way they are made.... also look for a header that has ATLEAST a 3/8" thik flange... anything thinner can result in warping of the flange and cuast leaks... it would be really hard to warp a 3/8" flange... anyway...hope this helps... and get some headers!!!

there is another reason for headers on a magnum motor... the #7 & #8 cylinders run hot and tend to cause problems on those cylinders. if you have a tube header on there it will keep the heat from one cylinder to the next even.
as far as performance goes, the more efficient it moves air in and out, the more hp & tq you'll get out of it. the 1st mods i'd recommend are a CAI, cat back exhaust, 50 or 52mm throttle body and then a programmer. those mods will give you the most bang for the buck when compared to headers alone. the headers should come last after the above mods.
what you'd be facing is opening up the bottlenecks in the flow of the motor... air filter, throttle body, intake manifold, heads, exhaust manifold and cat back setup. once your out of bolt ons, then your looking at cams & pistons...
oh, and btw, change your timing chain... the stock ones suck!

steveoo.. speakin of timing chains..whered you get that double at? i was llookin around starting to stock pyle parts for the next mod-fest. planned on doing that... i was thinkin about my heads... i was thinking if it would be better to just pulll a motor out of a junker in a yard somewhere and slowley build it up with the r/t heads for just say screw it and put the r/t heads and more work to the original.. it only has 89 thou on it .. buildin up a new motor would be a fun project... and i could get EXACTLY how i want it yaknow?
