Are there any common places the 318 leaks oil? I have a small oil leak coming from the passenger rear I believe. Haven't looked into it a whole lot. Just thought I'd see if there is anything common. Did a search but it just pulled every thread with the word leak.

 

Check the valve cover gasket and the oil pan gasket. How much oil are you losing and how fast? What year, make and model is the truck and how many miles are on it?

 

It's enough to leave a small spot overnight. Seems like more than a valve cover gasket, although I think they need changed. I have had the truck for less than 2 weeks. It's a 96 1500 with 150k on it.

 

Anywhere there is a gasket or seal is suspect. Gonna have to have a look, and see what you find.

Well today I was driving and at idle there is no oil pressure. As soon as I hit the throttle it goes up. Need to get a mechanical gauge on it to see if it's the sensor or actual low pressure. Checked the oil and its good. Also noticed that I have a hole in a power steering hose.

 

Anyone know the thread size of the pressure sensor?

 

If the vehicle is cold and you have some pressure then when it warms up it goes to 0 it's your plenum.

 

Also cause it to smoke?
