Default Dodge front end... gotta love them

98 ram 1500 5.2 4x4.

I have noticed in the last couple weeks my steering has been pulling to the left and shaking, and then it will come out of it and drive straight. I’ve only been city driving so not huge deal just been fighting the wheel

well today I took it down a road @50mph, I thought I was gonna shake out of my seat! Felt like left front rotor was warped like crazy and it was pulling hard. So I go a mile down the road turn around and drive same way back, now it drives perfectly straight no problem. WTF? Any imput?

thank you in advance

it could possibly be your steering shaft, look up the rock solid ram fix, many swear it fixed their problem, I'm going to end up ordering it myself next month most likely. It certainly couldn't hurt, that factory bushing in these were apparently very lackluster

How many miles are on this truck and what maintenance has been performed on the front-end components to-date and when? How are the tires? Is the tread in good shape and are the tires properly balanced?

Hi all thanks for your replies. Sorry for the slow reply, got busy with work and everything. I sold the truck, I do believe the shake was coming from a combo of the rotors being slightly warped and tires maybe loosing a weight and becoming unbalanced?

upgraded to an 04 ram 1500 short bed single cab with a 5.7. Man she moves. Thank you for all your help!

Fixed it by replacing every part? Yeah, that works too.

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to do that? Either frame off resto or new truck?

Too bad trucks today are luxury items that are out of reach.

dealing with a bad mpg and exhaust/gas smell problem and a kinda loose steering wheel I honestly considered the same then realized the sobering reality that newer vehicles are extremely expensive, so I decided to slowly fix mine up as time goes on....ordered new map sensor,o2,and pcv valve....if it's not those as the problem, I'll order a new egr valve (or block it off hehehe) and some weird purge canister thing, then eventually get the rock solid ram fix, hopefully that fixes it and I don't have some deeper front end problem, that can get expensive quick
