Check the 8 pin connector that plugs into the trans. Drivers side, about halfway back. Goes straight down into the top of the valve body.

Update I checked the 8 pin connector and it was fine. Now the truck will drive about 100 feet in gear after holding the Tom's at 1500 then it stops working.

Unplug the 8 pin connector. Go for a drive. You will not have ANY automatic functions. None. Zero. Start in first, shift when appropriate. (also won't have O/D, or TCC) If the trans shifts into the gear you tell it to, when you tell it to, it's just an electronics problem, you can replace them, and be done with it. If it still exhibits odd behavior, its rebuild time.

Would the govoner pressure sensor cause this issue? And will unplugging the connector bypass that?

Unplugging the connector disables all the electronics in the trans. Trans runs at full pressure. Basically, what you are doing is testing the mechanical portion of the trans. If the mechanicals work the way they are supposed to, then by elimination, the electronics are at fault. Actually, failed electronics are all too common on these transmissions.......
