Ping got worst almost feels like!! Truck runs 10x better tho. Got up the hill a whole a lot better then before Seafoam I believe it was because maybe I didn’t drive it hard enough after letting all the smoke clear?

Feels worse or sounds worse?

I don't know how you can notice any difference in how it runs. I've never noticed any improvement after seafoam. You may just have to deal with it. You're running huge tires on stock gears it looks like. Just have to use 89 from now on.

It feels better on the throttle but sounds a little worst. I’m at haft a tank now when I need gas I’ll put some 89 in it and see if that helps

Or just put in 91 or 93 whatever super is where you live and you'll end up with 89ish.

Some of the littlest things would affect ping on mine. It was very touchy for many years until I put on 33s and as I understand it, only one cylinder is probably causing it by burning hot. There have been reports of indexing the plugs to get them to burn cleaner. Or just running 89 all the time. Or using one step colder plug. Or the colder t-stat. I've tried it all over the past 18 years and it usually was manageable with higher octane gas.

I filled up with 89, yesterday I had just under a quarter tank of fuel left. The ping isn’t as loud as it was. Maybe it is still burning the 87 out. When I do a tune up in a couple months I will try and run colder plugs and see how it plays out. In Southern California. Where I am located we only have 87 89 91, 1 out of 10 places will have 93, but it very costly. I’ll kept you guys posted. But good news was that the ping went down in sound a lot. I can’t hear it as much unless I force on it.

Most of the time it’s when I climb up hills at around 2000 or greater rpms, but iv been hearing just cursing at just under 2000 rpms. And yea it first happen when my plenum was bad I changed it less then 2500 miles ago. Before I post this form I check the plenum by taking off the throttle body and didn’t see a drop of oil. I used my inspection camera to go in the back of the unit and there was still no oil. If I still hear the ping after this tank is empty I’ll put 91 one in and see if that helps. I use Arco gas, everything else here is either shell or chevron and my truck hates those gas’s it burns to fast. And or just hole in the wall gas stations with crap gas as well. That’s why I use arco plus it’s cheaper then shell or chevron by 30 cents or so. I’ll kept looking and see what’s going on.

The two things that cured my pinging was a 180 thermostat and 1 step colder on the plugs, i think you should also fill the tank will whatever grade of fuel you want, but, throw a can of octane booster in as well, this could cure some issues, if you do these three things to start, you shouldn't need the octane booster on the 2nd fill up...

Funny about the gas as my truck loves shell or chevron the best. Sometimes a random tank of Conoco or something back east will do really well on my road trip but anything cheap like grocery stores or Arco sucks for me.

Run 89 for awhile and let it get used to it. Do another seafoam in a week or so. It should improve. I have had ping come and go so many times I think the moon phases affect it! I used to run 89 for years then one day I put in 87 and ping was gone! I've even run 85 in Montana with no ping. It's so weird. All Dodge had to do is put on knock sensors but they figured it was better we suffer and deal with ping for nearly twenty years.

Yea it’s crazy about the different fuels in different states, how I look at it is that why pay a extra 40 cents a gallon and only get haft of what you ussally get when I put arco gas in.

and do you guys know the part number or brand of a colder plug I’ll look into those ASAP
