Hey all new to rams, having a issue with transmission once warm after about 15-20 miles when I slow down to a stop or fully stopped the truck slams from second to first hard! The truck is a 1995 ram 1500 5.9 with 46rh....
I was thinking of starting with tcc solinoids and governor? Unless anyone has better idea for a remedy for this issue thank you in advance
Second to first is purely hydraulically controlled. No electronics involved at all. Only electronics on your is for TCC, and O/D. May be a sticking governor...... or possibly a band adjustment issue? (doubtful on the latter....)
Forgot to mention truck has 100k in it and also occasionally when put in reverse truck dies, idle slowly drops unless you can get to the gas peddle fast enough then it will stay running and reverse fine... Happy thanksgiving everyone

May wanna pull the throttle body, and give it a thorough cleaning. Pay special attention to the IAC well.... they like to get crudded up, and then they don't work quite right.
Dropped pan cleaned everything new fluid new filter took alot of slop out with the band adj. Did check valve delete up at transcooler to early to tell put about 50 miles on it and so far so good never has shifted so smooth fingers are crossed....
thanks!
Put about 200 miles on so far 2nd to 1st shift is rough if I stop fast...... If I slowly come to stop it's smooth.... dropped pan again today to check things out and this is what I found... the flakes are very thin and do not stick to magnet.... the flakes are silver the fluid makes it look brass color
You have something in there chewing itself up. It may go another 50K miles like that, or, it may stop working tomorrow....... It's almost impossible to predict.
I have a 46rh trans and it suddenly lost reverse. I kept driving it for another day and i was going about 50mph until it just stopped going. I was doing 50 and all the sudden it seemed like someone had just taken the driveshaft off, no bang, crash, noises, it just stopped going forward. What could this be? I'm in the middle of a full restoration of this truck
