Headlight problem: clear-lens eurostyle for 1994-1998 Ram (pics)
I´ve been looking for clear -lens eurostyle headlamps for my 1996 Ram 2500.
No luck, nobody makes it for 94-08.
Only available model is 1999-01 "Sport Version"
Whats the difference? Somebody told me that 1999-01 fits on 1994-1998 models too without any conversions.
I wonder is it true?
Heres one kit: http://www.procarparts.com/store-det...=onlinestoreDB
Thanks.
Below 1999-01 clear lens upgrade kit, looks identical with olders.

Installing sport headlamps in a non-sport truck requires some modification to the harness and to the support behind the headlamps. If you search the forum, you will find threads with information about it.
I did the conversion and The Burning Rom is right. The headlight connectors have to be re-wired since the 9007 bulbs that replace the 9004's are wired different. The 9007 bulbs replace the 9004's on the low beam circuit, and your 9004's are moved to the high beam only circuit and must be wired in using a relay. There is a diagram somewhere here that shows what to change, as well as how to wire in the necessary relay. The relay is critical. The headlamp circuit in NON SPORT vehicles is set for only 2 bulbs, not 4, and you will have problems if you attempt to wire in the 9004's without it.
Also, depending on the year of your truck, you will probaly have to trim and cut some of the radiator support to allow clearance and access to the inboard lamps. Apparently, the mid production 98's, as well as 99 on up, don't need the metal trimming treatment. Earlier models will probably require the trimming. As long as you have a metal cutting saw or grinder, you'll be able to handle it quite easily.
Although some instructions don't say to do it, installation is much easier if you remove the top (BLACK) plastic covering from the bumper. This makes it easier to reach the mounting bolts for the headlamp assy., as well as enable easier removal and installation of the assemblies.
You will need to purchase a BOSCH (or equivalent) 30-AMP relay, and 2 connectors that will work for the 9004/9007 bulbs. The connectors are the same for each bulb, but how it's wired is what you have to pay close attention to. Also, associated colored wiring, and use weatherproof connectors wherever you can.
I recommend that you DO NOT CUT the wires on the stock lamp connectors. Instead, play with it and unplug the wires from the connector and reverse them as necessary. Cutting them will cause possible problems later as the wiring gets older and is exposed to more and more weather.
Finally, study the diagram once you find it. I found the color coding of the diagram to be a little different than that on my 98 Ram, but could still be easily figured out and adapted.
Take your time and study everything. The conversion took me several hours to complete and another hour or so to troubleshoot once I got it all together.
Good luck!

I did this upgrade on mine and its awesome. I would recommend it for everyone. there were some difficulties in getting the wiring sorted out. most of which was I was relying on others to tell me which way to do it. finally I just got the ohm meter out and figured out which wire did what and made the corrections needed. I did get a harness to go with it which made the swap easier.

Ok, thanks for fast replys.
Final thing, can anybody give me a hint about online shop which sells AND delivers those kits to Europe too?
Bargain price would be a nice bonus.

Try Ebay! I got mine there. Included bulbs also. The harness that Steve was talking about I didn't use because I didn't know it existed until I did the upgrade![:@] Oh well, live and learn.
Good luck with the conversion. It IS worth it. Too bad Dodge didn't put those lights in all of their rigs since 94.
