Default i hear a clunking noise when turning

2004 dodge ram 2500 5.9l

i was trying out my 4x4 on dry pavement, turned a corner on a city street and i hear clunks as im going around the corner. does this mean i need to replace a u-joint? or is this normal as the 4x4 system isnt meant for turning on non-slippery surfaces?
thanks

You don't want to use 4x4 on high traction surfaces...... Still, it wouldn't hurt to inspect the u-joints in the front axle..... and driveshaft. (yours has a solid front axle, doesn't it?)

Normal. There is no differential so the wheels are turning at the same speed when turning. Makes all kinds of things go clunk. Not advisable.
