Default 1999 Dodge Ram v10 stalls inconsistently.

About two months ago I stopped at a stop sign, started to pull out and my truck died. I though it was weird because it’s mever died before but It started right back up so I ignored it. Well about a week later it did it again. Then again and again and now it’s to the point to where it will die and it won’t start again from anywhere to 30 minutes to an hour and a half. It dies inconsistently. At idle, when slowing down to stop, on the highway, it doesn’t seem to matter. And when it dies it just cuts out. No sputtering or anything just dies instantly. Sometimes I can drive it for an hour untill it dies, sometimes I’ll only get like 10-20 minutes out of it. The alternator and battery are both good. I changed out the fuel pump hoping it would fix it but iT didn’t. No codes are getting thrown, although the check engine light does flash on for a split second when it dies. Took it to the dodge dealership (that was a big misteak) they think it’s the crankshaft position sencer, which they couldn’t get because it’s disscontinued, but they weren’t positive that’s the issue. I ordered one off eBay and I’m going to replace it, any ideas what else it could be? P.s. idk if this is related to my issue or not but maybe 4 or 5 months ago my fuel mileage sh** the bed. Went from getting 220 miles on half a tank to 120 miles. My cats both rattle so that could be why, I plan on cutting them off but I want to get it running first. TIA

I think there were PCM (computer) problems. You can find rebuilt ones. I think the soldered connections broke.

I don't believe the crank sensor is discontinued. Many on here recommend Mopar sensors. The cheap after market ones don't seem to work well. I hate BWD, which is apparently a cheap line made by SMP. The actual Standard Motor Products parts have worked very well for me though.

Do you know of any possible way to test the PCM? And they probably have the crank sensor for the v8 but I can’t find it for the v10 anywhere but eBay.

No really good way to test the PCM..... Need to find out whats missing when it won't start. Got spark? Fuel pump running? Injector pulse?

By your symptoms, it sure sounds like something is getting hot, and failing. Unfortunately, that's a fairly common symptom for quite a few parts under the hood. Not setting any codes does kinda point to the PCM though.......

Default 99 V10 ram 2500

Having similar issue, replace crank sensor, cam sensor, coil packs, fuel pump add relay, fuel system relay, battery, alternator, idle air control valve, tuck just stalls out driving down the road, after there is no power to coils. Just crank, haven't checked but I don't believe injectors pulse either. Let it sit anywhere from 20min to a couple days. It seems to only do this as it starts to get cold out. Runs perfect until the snow hits. Last year I couldnt get it started until spring after putting in a new barter. I'm so lost any help would be great

That sounds a lot like a failing PCM.

Mine ended up being the crankshaft sensor. I had to put 3 new ones in before I figured it out, the first two were ****ty sensors from eBay shipped from China because litterally no one sells them anymore. However I ended up finding an original dodge sensor from a junkyard and the problems went away. Hope this helps

Wouldn't a failing pcm stop and just not start back up until replaced? But I think you might be on to something with the bad sensors. I'm going to try to find something original and try that.ill let you guys know. I did just order another one should be here Thursday.
