Default More horsepower

Looking to get a little more horsepower out of my 97 1500 360 2wd. I hear cold air intake and exhaust work well. I was also thinking of a mild cam and lifters. Maybe some head work. Any input would be great. I’m looking for the right amount of HP to where I’m not blowing tranny’s left and right and won’t be replacing other stock parts trying to keep up with the added HP. Just looking to make it a healthy running grocery getter that’s reliable yet will still put a smile on your face whenever I want to have a little fun.

Cold air intake does nothing but add noise and look good. What is your budget?

Have you done the plenum repair yet? How many miles? Stock tire size? What gears?

Exhaust definitely helps. The stock air box is already cold air. Just drop in a KN if you want.

Something you should seriously consider looking into before dropping 2g's on "performance" upgrades.

Plenum repair, route plugs wires per TSB and a tune from a reputable tuner (I use Ryan Hogan of Flyin' Ryan) will get you the most bang for your buck and be well below 2k

What he ^^^^^ said. The 1.7 Harland Sharp rockers are supposed to help. Kegger mod.New timing chain. Shorty headers and exhaust.

Trans filter, adjust bands, Sure Cure, better OD solenoids, remove trans cooler check valve.
