sooner or later you gonna have a car that newer than 2011...then the scan tool is useless. there is a reason people of dumping them. Do yourself a favour and check out autoengiuity.com before you commit 300$ for an old obsolete scan tool.

If you are keeping an older pre-96 non-OBD2 car, I don't believe that the autoenginuity setup will work for them. It's those older vehicles that the MT2500 still works well for. If folks are dumping them at the right price point (which is how I picked mine up), I see no reason not to have one. I have a few pre-OBD2 vehicles along with a few other folks I know and the MT2500 has helped pin down several issues with them.

other than pulling codes (which the dash can flash out)...maybe some data stream on a 93 to 95...what can any scan tool do for a obd1 system. I contend its not much.

The MT2500 can read all data available on OBDI systems. For those, it's actually quite useful.

all available data... ie. codes and data stream. I haven't seen any 1992 and older with anything but codes and a service mode.

Well I own an 05 impala with obd2, a 00, 95, and Brooke's 87 all have obd 1. Even on the 87, quite a bit of info is available with the MT2500. IIRC data logging can be done if you'd like a custom chip burned. We'd like to put a newer engine with roller lifters, a cam and vortec heads on it. The custom chip would tie it all together.

I suppose someday I might get a newer vehicle, but it's not likely. I want to build a shop and fix up the vehicles I have. The price of new ones is stupid ridiculous. I'm not into stuff that knows how many people are sitting in it and what they weigh or huge tv screens like on the 19 dodge ram. It'll probably cost $5000 to replace if it gets a drink spilled on it. With a little studying I can add any new gadget I want to the older vehicles. I enjoy building them into what I really want.

if you like it, go for it.

nope...00 is obd2 which was mandated in for 1996 and newer. Nissan and other maybe some other companies were allowed to carry both factory obd1 connector and industry standard obd2 connectors until 2000, but it is a obd2 vehicle.

95 will have data stream

Nothing like having the right tool for the job, especially if you can find it at a good price and enjoy doing auto repair work yourself. For pre-OBD2 vehicles, the MT2500 is quite useful.

The 2000 is a Ford Excursion (superduty) with a 6.8 V10, so it met heavy duty emissions and is still OBD1. Seems to have more data like OBD2. Tuners are available for it, most OBD1 needs a chip, I think. I haven't found anything for our 95 ram yet. I'd like to put a cam in it some day.

Yes, I like the older vehicles. It should work very well for my needs. I have access to 2 nice scanners for newer vehicles if I need them.
