If it were a newer truck, I might suspect the output speed sensor.... but, I have no idea how much of a role it actually plays in the older ones.... What did you adjust the bands to?

72 in. lb. then backed off 2 full turns both front and rear.
I don't know if the torque app does that or not..... the scanner your friend has does, but, how much of the data stream, and how long it records, becomes the question. Wouldn't hurt to have a shot at it though
I've been searching and talking to the local transmission shop and have come up with this: The delayed 2-3 shift or no 2-3 shift is actually a result of the inner lip seal of the direct clutch drum.
A delayed or no 2-3 shift is caused by a leaky direct clutch piston, inside the direct drum.
My truck is 22 years old and after changing the Governor Pressure solenoid and Governor pressure sensor and filter, this makes sense to me that the internal seals have hardened and/or cracked and are bypassing
fluid.
Any thoughts on this ?
