Default I know this is beating a dead horses but....

I still want to know what yall think. I have been looking now for an exhuast change up and the new super 40 by flowmaster is starting to catch my eye. Right now I have dual 40 series 3"in/dual 2.5" out. My exhaust guy has said that the super 40 indeed has a deeper sound and says that customers noticed a better power gain from it than the regular 40. Ok, I definatly want flowmaster exhaust. And I want dual flows like I have now because I noticed the best power gain from two instead of one. They say the super 40 flows better than the original 40 so should I still get dual super 40 flows 3"in/dual 2.5"out or dual super 40 3"in/single 2.5"out?
Here is the pic of my exhaust that I have now..dual 40 series 3"in/dual 2.5"out...

I have never seen anyone do 2 dual out mufflers before. Most applications have a single muffler with one in and two out or two one in one out mufflers. but anyway from what I have read and seen that if you don't have at least some backpressure you loose low end power. The most common recomendations are duals at 2.5 or a single 3" (which is what I run) but then I have 4wd and care alot more about low end than top end.

Im betting you lost too much back pressure there. I am no rocket scientist here but 4 holes out seems like overkill. I have read alot of smart guys write things up on this forum. Seems when you do duals you should have two 2.5 inch pipes out the rear. You got 4 with no pipe to the rear. I wouldnt do it myself. Must be loud as hell. Did you lose any power at all when you did this?

No, I didn't lose power. The truck actually gained quite a bit. I had a one 40 series 3"in/Dual 2.5"out before I put two on. And I did notice a bigger power gain after two were put on. And its not too much louder but it is alot deeper.
Heres a sound clip I did a while back, I've posted this before but I'll put it up again to let ya'll hear.
my truck
I was thinking that for the backpressure that I need, that I might put 2 super 40s 3"in/single 2.5"out...but I still don't know...

his truck is light enough to be able to get away with his setup... 2wd std cab and a ?short bed? the gains on the top end would be more benificial than getting more low end torque.

you should add the 2.02 r/t heads, 52mm tb and maybe an M1 intake... it'll really scoot then. Talk to Amanda (dodgegirl19) about her setup... she's got hers scooting down the 1/4 mile pretty quick these days.

How much are r/t heads? I have always wanted to know... Where is a good place to get them at a decent price?

yeah, my truck is a short bed. so what do you suggest on the exhaust steve? 2 single out or 2 dual out super 40s? I have two dual out fortys now, do you think i should do the same with the super 40?

every penny!

I think your exhaust now is setup so there is little if any backpressure... if you like it the way it is... then go with the super 40's dual out. it really depends on what your after. go to www.krcperformance.com and look at their dyno page. lots of good info there.
