Default 2001 Dodge ram 1500 5.2 quad cab 4x4?

Rear end is junk should I get a whole new rear axle or pay $800 for new front and rear gears? and I say front and rear cuz I'm upgrading to 4.56s good idea or what gearing would be best for daily road driving no towing no offroading?

IMO, 4.56 would not be good for daily driving unless you got huge tires. Get a junk yard rear end and just swap it out.

I have 35's and everyone tells me to swap it out with junkyard rear end but how will I know the rear ends good unless I we're open up the pumpkin and if it's messed up I'll just have to buy the gear and pinion anyways right?

You could open it up at the yard and verify it's ok.

Ok and as for 4.56 gears is that ok for daily drivin or what would you recommend as far as increased power and better gas mileage?

Thats a loaded question. Increasing power and increasing gas mileage do not go together. Best thing is to tune it up, make sure the plenum is good first.

4.56 should be very driveable with 35's.

If gas mileage is a concern, bigger tires, and deeper gears, are not going to help. Going back to 3.55's, and stock tire size would be better.
