i have a 96dodge slt motor and trans is shot i have a 79 dodge clubcab that needs alot of work but motor and trans is good will it work ???

 

Yes and no, You need 46re trans(electronically controlled with OD) The one in the 79 is a 727(hydraulically controlled no OD and it is shorter). You could install it and it would work but no OD and you will get all kind of codes because the pcm doesn't see a trans there. That is if you mod the trans mount and get a longer drive shaft.

 

I think that swap would be a major pain, and you would end up spending more to get it to work, than you would if you simply fixed what is already in there.
