blocking the radiator???
When I was in Alaska, almost every car and truck in the little town I was in had radiator covers. The Rams had nice ones made of vinyl or faux leather looking material (like a tonnau cover type material) that could be unzipped in sections (kinda like the big rigs do) in case you needed a lot of air, a little bit of air, or no air to pass through. They looked very good. YOu should look for something like that instead of cardboard.
thanks for the idea...ill look around for them.... they sound better then a cheezy cut up pizza box... no pun intended...hahahaha... but ive been lookin for block heaters and im gonna go to autozone and get an oilpan block heater ... looks the easiest to install and more reliable... ill post my results after a few test runs!!!!! thanks silver!
I honestly do not know the capacity. About 2 months ago I bought 3 gallons (and an equal amout of distilled water) and flushed and filled my truck, the wifes van, the daughters car and my generator. I still have a little less than a gallon, mixed, left. I mix mine at a 50/50 mix but you could go a little more on the antifreeze because of your more extreme temps.
thanks red.... ill stop by dodge tomorow and ask the techs... maybe they might know something...usually they dont though
good fellas and autozone know a bit or 2... haynes might know too... ill see ill post my findings as usual

on your non-heatup problem, another thought might be an electric fan... Flex-a-lite makes a 5000 cfm double that should work good, or a viper fan setup... with the right controller it wont turn on until 195 and it'll have better warmup times from what I hear.
Just a comment on the block heater they are great for overnight but will not help you with heating your truck while you are going. I agree with others I think your thermostat may be going bad. My son in colorado had a similar problem and it was his thermostat and his waterpump was weak (did not push the fluid into the heater core) You could also have a partialy clogged heater core (working on warmer days it would take less to heat) a good flush may fix that but I would err on the side of caution and change the thermostat while you were at it.
In Iowa it gets pretty friggin cold too. I used to have to put cardboard in front of the radiator on my Cj-7. Havnt had to yet with my dodge though, however this morning its about 5 degrees outside and Ive seen 3 or 4 newer GMC's already with cardboard over the grills.
