Default tranny issues, band adjusment?

I jus t got a 01 ram 3/4ton gas, but it has some tranny issues. Im not sure if its stuck in third or just not getting into overdrive. Im running 2800rpms at 55mph. So im wondering if it might be something as simple as a band adjustment or if the trannys junk, what do yall think?

Sounds like you aren't getting O/D. Any codes from the PCM?

See what the PCM is whining about. Take it from there.

well, had her checked out. only code on there was for the spark plugs(aint gonna lie, thought there be alot more!) But i did forget to mention that the guy i got it off of just put the tranny in last week, said he got it from a guy online who was about to junk his truck(so it very well could just be a bad tranny). but he forgot a stabilizer bolt and left a few pan bolts a bit loose(tightend them up and made sure the fluid was topped off). So i dont know if he could have left something unplugged, or not hooking the linkage up right(there is a little play in the shifter) would cause an issue. (dont know a lot about trannys if you cant tell!)

Just got ahold of him, it came from a 98 ram 1500 4x4(go figure it came from the same thing I was planning on swapping for!) You think it might be the electronics in the pan?

If they weren't changed to match those for the year of the truck, they WILL cause problems.

Think it'll cause that kind of problem, or is your guess as good as mine?

Wrong electronics will disable O/D. The PCM thinks the trans is too hot, and shuts it off. It *should* also turn on the trans temp light in the dash, but, not always.
