The coils checked out at 2.3 on the primary, but when I touched the leads together on the multi-meter they read 1.6 without running through anything, so I imagine the coil resistance is around 0.7 ohms.

Davis Unified Ignition asked what the dwell time was that the ECU sends out. They said it needs to be under 4.0 ms. The shop claimed that they didn't have the equipment to check that, but I'm wondering if you know what the factory setting for the dwell time would be, or if you can direct me where to find it. My attempts at google failed.

That's going to be in programming...... I have no clue what dwell actually is..... when I did have to deal with it, it was measured in degrees of crankshaft rotation, as the 'time' the points are open (dwell) varies DRAMATICALLY with RPM. Hemifever, or Flyin' Ryan likely could answer that question for ya. (hemifever is actually a member here, Ryan though, I don't think so. They both do custom tuning for OBDII vehicles.)

That's some really nice work done on your truck. I've been going over some paint schemes for my truck and been thinking about the two-tone. I like the look of it when the color transitions under the window like that.

Have you guys had the top of the engine apart and rebuilt? I was doing some reading around and someone mentioned there was a TSB on the plenum and intake gaskets on that year engine (1995). Apparently will give O2 sensor issues. I haven't had the top of my engine apart, so i dont know exactly how that whole setup jives together.

Thanks, it's been a fun build, but I really just want to finish up at this point. The paint scheme is actually what it had on it stock, I wanted to change it but my family convinced me to keep it the same, and I think it actually turned out quite nice. This truck once belonged to my brother who was killed in Iraq 11 years ago next week. We are rebuilding it for my dad, so we tried to keep the same color scheme throughout.

I haven't done any engine work apart from regular maintenance. From the CEL code it gave, I believe it is a coil pack/ignition issue of some sort, but I wonder if a leaky gasket could cause the problems we are having.

Hemi fever got back to me and he doesn't know the stock dwell time.

Ryan Hogan (Fly'n Ryan) is tuning the V10's now. You're best bet to reach him is via facebook messenger. He's usually pretty quick with responses

So i was looking at the intake gasket setup on the v10's, and some people and even parts places are calling one of them a plenum and the other two the intake. Not sure where the plenum reference is coming from because its not really a plenum. It's more of an upper and lower intake gasket set. Apparently they can cause problems and not be detected by the "spray carb cleaner to find leaks" method.

It is a plenum intake as the bottom pan is the plenum

I have been thinking about the misfire problem still, I'm wondering if gapping the spark plugs too much would cause this. The coil pack manufacturer says that you can go up to .065, stock calls for .044 or .045, I gapped them to .058 ish. Do you think this could be the problem?
