Under the heading of unusual noises...
Djya ever notice that other folks can just...never seem to see, hear or "feel" the cry's for help that your electro-mechanical marvel is sending out. "Oil light...oh yeah, that's been on for ever!" or..."NOISE, WHAT NOISE??? N my personal all time favorite..."yeah, it rumbles like that all the time, "how was I supposed to know that meant the tire was flat?!?" It can happen!!!

You might get a couple months or even years out of that pump but nowhere near what the factory put in.
Must be, I thought it was a little weird to go park the same place, but decided when you get old like me, it's okay to do weird stuff. People will just roll their eyes and say he can't help it.

Yes, taught son and daughter to learn what their cars sound like, leave radio off when starting it up and shutting it down. Learn to listen and feel, it will normally tell you when it has problems coming up, don't blast radio going down road. They seem to listen to what I said. Now the granddaughter took awhile, not to sure I knew what I was talking about, but think she is coming around. Great grandson is only 6 month old, if I am even around when he starts driving doubt he will listen. These youngsters just think they know it all, seems like each generation thinks they know it all at a younger age.

If he put the cheapest pump he could get in there, you will be lucky if it lasts 3 months...... You want denso, or delphi. Tell your friend running the shop, that charging a bit more, and installing quality parts, will make his life much more pleasant. I hate having to redo jobs (for free) every couple months because I cheap out on parts, so, I won't do it. Fix it once, fix it right, don't worry about it again. It will make his customers happier as well. (though, yeah, it will make their wallets lighter.... which they will bitch about....) His reputation will make or break his business. Better to be a bit more expensive, but be known for doing quality work.

Good point, I sure hope it last longer, hate getting stuck someplace. I get out on a lot of gravel roads that it would be explain to AAA where I am at- no addresses. Actually, he will let me buy the parts and just bill me hourly. The bad part about that is if the parts fail, then it's all on me to buy another and have installed. But in this case, I let him get it somewhere, his wife said it was a $295.00 part. I had checked O'Reilly and their brand was around $200, so I bet that is where it came from, will ask next week. I might have got it, but didn't know if it was 4 or 6 pin connector. But if he buys it and charges retail, then it will be on him.

I do not mind at all paying extra for a quality part, especially one that is difficult to get access to, pays off for everyone.

Is it normal to hear the pump while truck is idling? Kinds of sounds like one of the tornado sirens going off way off in the distance that you can just barely hear, if you weren't listening you would never hear.

I just noticed where HeyYou lives, I got family outside of Litchfield living in the countryside. They are heading down my way in about a week.

I can't hear the pump in my truck at all, unless I am actually actively listening for it. Of course, my hearing isn't the best in any event..... Also, it may just be that since having had it replaced, you are more conscious of it......

No, pumps only make noise when you first turn the key and there's a brief whrrrrrr from the back. After that, nothing. Hope you get more than 3 months out of it.

There are so many buzzers going off when I turn on key, that is all you hear. And after turning on, but not cranking, I don'r hear anything.

The pump will only run for three seconds, unless it sees the engine turning. And by that point, you really can't hear the pump anymore in any event.

However I did a video that you can hear the fuel pump sound, I can hear it standing or sitting in truck, but I moved phone closer to tank to hear the sound in video better. I have an old stereoscope like doctors use, put that on bottom of fuel tank, it gets really loud, so that is where it's coming from.
