Hey so I just swapped the sensors gonna wait until morning to do a start test see if it clears up also found my airhat atop the throttle body was deformed not sealing properly replaced it might of contributed to my issue not sure but I checked long term and short term fuel trim long term shows in the -5.5 to -6.9 at acceleration it’s always ran kinda rich until warmed up since I’ve owned it but what is a normal range in those trims to look out for?

To me anyhow, trims will always run "a little" rich till the engine is up to operating temp. That being said, if you get long terms that stay consistently +/-10 n over while cold...or operating temp...you may/might/maybe have a number of problems...or may/might/maybe...not. As these engines age, things that make for compression, fuel n air delivery, exhaust, blah-blah-blah change as well and the ECM compensates for all this wear a little more each time. Case in point, I've been monitoring 'ol blue lately, cause I did some major body repair to the cab floor that took allot longer than I anticipated and as a bonus, the inspection is due...NOW. The battery was disconnected during this endeavour, so HAL went silent. Now, it takes all the "tests/cycles awhile to complete so you're ready for the taxman's inquisition and have the necessary sacrifices in hand to pay the state it's temple tax. I've been waiting, allot, for HAL to finish his cycles. He's still not opening the podbay door . Outta curiosity, I check the engine parameters while I'm there. I notice that while the short terms are okay, the long terms r runnin' +3/+5 on average (yeah the cat is shot due to the plenum oil bath conspiracy, but small miracle, it's not clogged!), BUT WAIT!!!, a week later, they're averaging -3/-7. Idles so smooth, runs great n has the roughly the same gas mileage it's always had since they started adding food to our gas...so, bottom line who knows?!? If she runs great n all seems well...

So started it this morning still acting up, I’m at a loss could it be the crank shaft position sensor? Even though it only acts up upon startup?

Anything is possible. If it only acts up at startup, and clears up if you rev it a couple times, I would suspect maybe a leaking injector......

How would I test the injectors to see which one it is?

Have to pull 'em with the rail, and pressurize the system. (simply turn the key on....) see if any of 'em drip.

Oh. Yeah. 97 with the plastic fuel rail...... Need to make an adapter to go between the line, and the rail, with the valve for the pressure gauge.
