Default Rear Band Tight

Rebuilding a built transmission. I installed a Kevlar rear band and did the 72 in/lb and back off 2 turns. I have a Sonnax billet rear band accumulator in there that says to adjust to 72/2 turns also. When I do this I can't turn the drum and the band is still tight and won't move. The lever on the accumulator and the accumulator itself has no slack and is still into the accumulator bore. If I take it to 3 turns (tried 2 1/4, 2 12, etc) the drum will turn but still tight. At 3 turns the accumulator/lever has about 1/8 inch gap but drum still tight. Adjust it to spec and go or try to figure this out? When I get home I'm going to see what happens when I install the old rear band a see what I get..

Took it off and compared to old one. Same size all the way around. Going out to garage and putting the old one one back on.

New one looks just like the old one. It's not a Kevlar band as I ordered, just stock. Put the old one back on and worked perfectly with adjustments. OK so maybe I missed something, and tried putting the new stock one on. Still was binding. The old one had the eyeball measurement and looked the same thickness as the new. 86K miles on the truck. So I put the old one back and going to continue on building. Taking the drum off and on 2 times, nicked the lining on the new one in 2 areas. These areas were where the drum was binding up. The old was still intact, no nicked lining. High spots from? Me fat fingered it in? Then, this didn't happen with the old one.

The new one is getting a "return item".
