Default 1998 2500 fogs do not work with low beams on.

My fog lights do not work with the low beams on, and I can't seem to find anything out about this on the internet, so I was wondering if anyone on here had the same issue. the bulb on the pass. side was destroyed when I bought the truck, and there was a bit of water in the light, so would the fuses be a good place to start? Also, if it has any connection, the power outlet inside doesn't work either. Thanks.

They are only supposed to work with the low beams on.

Checked the fuse and it was fine, now I'm wondering if the relays are the problem. Anyone know how to tell if they are bad/where to get them?

You can swap them out with other relays. A bad fuse is not always visible, should be checked with a test light or multimeter. I once had an issue with the headlight lens fogging up, it eventually dripped on the lightbulb and blew it up. I drilled a small vent hole on the topside of the canister and has worked fine for many years.

Ok, looking at how it is *supposed* to work.....

The fog lamp switch controls a relay, that supplies power to yet another relay. (this would be the main power feed for the fogs.) The second relay gets its power feed for the control circuit from the multi-function switch. (red/orange wire, pin 86 on relay) Other side of the control circuit goes directly to ground. So, what I suspect is happening is, when you actually turn the headlights on, you lose the power feed to the second fog relay.....
