Default 5.2 to 5.9, harness question?

Hey Guys, just another question on my ongoing project. I have a 97 auto 4x4 Ram that had a 5.9 in it. I put a 5.2 from a 98 in it (5.9 threw a rod). After doing a few sensor changes because of the difference in plug ins from 97 to 98 everything is plugged in. My question is, are the harnesses the same from a 5.9 to a 5.2? Ive done the pcm change but havent had it flashed yet. Had a few people tell me that they will plug in the same but that they are different and I needed a harness from a 5.2 truck. Just looking for some advise before I go through a harness change. Thanks in advance for your help. You guys are great on here. Already had a ton of helpful info and suggestions from everyone

Engine size doesn't make a difference as far as the harness goes. On the 98 and up trucks though, some sensors are different, and the intake only has provision for one engine temp sensor. Older trucks have two. One for the PCM, one for the gauge in the dash. The computers break at 98 and are NOT compatible. Too much changed in the way things work.

I did drill and tap the intake to accommodate the second temp sensor as 2Bit suggested in my previous post. Realy wasnt nearly as bad of a job as I was thinking. I did replace the sensors with new ones for the 97 model. Now I know the fuel sync is off. Guess I will get it to dealer to have the sync set and computer flashed. I got the computer from a junkyard. They said its from a 97 5.2 (pre-pulled part). Is the flash necessary?

Thats even better news.lol Another $100 I will save by not having to have that done. Guess I will have the sync set and have it diagnosed if that doesnt fix the problem. One other question. I did not put a torque converter in it from a 5.2. It still has the original 5.9 converter. Does that have anything to do with the balancing of the motor or am I ok with the 5.9 tc in it?
