99 ram 1500 5.9 gasser engine swap
just found out my engine is pretty much junk and to rebuild is damn near going to be as much as a new long block. What suggestions does anyone have on swapping out to a 24v or a hemi? Would the trans be compatible or anything be compatible for that matter?

Nothing would be compatible. Going to either engine would require a different trans. Swapping the the diesel would likely be easiest, as these trucks actually came with those.... (but, not in the 1500's...... so, look at beefing the suspension there as well.) Going to the hemi would be incredibly complicated.... PCM in your truck also runs all the gauges.... so, wiring would be interesting, to say the least.
Easiest would be just getting the long block, and swapping stuff over to it. Many folks out there provide them. Just look at reviews, and see what ya think.
