New Motor Assistance
Alright so I got an Easy Out plugging my oil dipstick hole for now, I got the rest of the motor ready to put in, and I just started putting it in today before I had to go to work. I'm having trouble lining up the motor mounts and not hitting the transmission while I push the motor back and low enough to get into the motor mounts.
Suggestion: Should I take the motor mounts off, put them on the body, then lower the engine to the mounts and mount it that way? I'm not too sure how well that would work as the motor still is hitting the trans every time I put it in there. I think I might have put the motor mounts on wrong as well, so I'm not sure. If someone has a picture of those that'd be great!

Damn forgot to get your pictures of the mounts, my fault! I usually leave the mounts connected to the frame and disconnect them from the motor. When I did my first engine (15 years old) I tried honestly for 2 days to get the holes lined up (it was on a 98 Durango) and couldn't my dad came out and in 5 minutes had them lined up lol
Also, how do I add Transmission fluid? I have the motor half way in right now so if its easier I'd rather just keep it out until I can add a quart of trans fluid. I gotta get it flushed after the motor is in and runs good enough for me to care about the rest of the truck lol.

Also, I’m pretty sure my mounts are where they need to be, but I can’t get the engine back far enough AND IN the transmission, so that the holes on the mounts line up. Any suggestions other than scrapping the truck? 🤬😂 lol
How many miles on the trans? If its only a couple hundred, top it off, call it a day. If it is several thousand, changing the fluid wouldn't be a bad idea.
If you can get the alignment dowels lined up..... just use a few bolts to draw engine and trans together.

the guy I bought it from said the tranmission still has its break in fluid in it...should I just leave it be and add what fell out?

I was always told a flush could ruin your tranny I never did it personally. You want the back of the engine lower then the front push the back into the tranny and then lower the front and you should be pretty close. It's here to explain but thats how I always did it
trans had about 200 on it when I got it, and I’ve only driven it maybe 400 Miles. So about 600 lol, I’ll just add fluid before I drive it....if it runs.
as soon as it’s all lined up and the trans is bolted on, I think I’ll breeze through the rest, it’s only connections and bolts at that point and I’ve memorized all the front end stuff
Truck is running! Thank you all for the help! It has good oil pressure as well, only thing wrong with it really is now it has a "GEN" red light on the dash. I think that's related to the alternator from what I've read, so that can wait until it goes out I guess, but it runs! I'll post a video of the first start when I go on break later tonight.
All I gotta do now is put the air box, bumper, and hood back on, and it's ready to take on the road! Seriously, thank you guys, probably would've just sold it when I had the chance a month or two ago if it wasn't for all the help.
