Default 02 Sensor

Who designed where to put the upstream 02 sensor, driver side connector. Mine is almost right under the ignition cap in the back. There is hardly any length from the 02 sensor to the connector. I have big hands and forearms. The starter is off and the exhaust pipe loosely attached to the header and shift linkage is unbolted. So I can just barely get my hand up there or from on top of the engine laying down on it. I can reach the connector with one hand but just not enough to get it together. Messed the up and down stream driver 02 sensors. Bending the wires right on top of the body of the sensors. Now I can extend the new sensor wire. (should have done it when the transmission was out)

Just venting or do you really need a name? I'm sure you could find an employee list from 1998 for Chrysler engineers online.

Btw, my 99 is easy to reach up and swap out (same design). Do you have California sensors?

I went up from the passenger side. You can see it, maybe, or, you can touch it, but, you cannot do both at the same time.

Ordered 4 new NTK 02 sensors. Time for a new battle when they come in. Yup, I have California emissions. It'll be easy once I have more than a 1/4 inch of slack.
