Default Fan Motor Shuts Off Uphill

I've had an ongoing issue with the fan motor since I bought my 97 1500 15 years ago. When I'm traveling on an incline the fan motor shuts off. It will shut off with either the heater or a/c operating and will start working once I'm off an incline. It seems logical to me that a component is losing contact or grounding out but I'm not sure where I should start looking. Has anyone had this problem and if so what was the culprit? Thank you!!!

Check the resistor block. Should be in the bottom of the heater box, near the blower itself.

Also check to make sure all of the screws are in place and tight, that back one is kind of hard to get to and someone may have left it off and the motor is shifting and binding up

Are you sure the motor is shutting off or are you getting wild vents? I know when mine does the wild vents on hills, it can kind of seem like the fan stops blowing.

Valid point. This seems like the more likely scenario.

I'm gonna fix that one of these days. You ever feel like you're gonna open a can of worms trying to fix something when it's a 100 degrees outside?

You are absolutely correct! Just today I learned the blower motor isn't shutting off but the center vent(s) air is being diverted to the defrost vents on inclines. I suppose this isn't an easy fix?

As i understand it, the fix isn't that bad, just involves replacing some check valves under that hood.

Been looking for the thread, but not finding the one i thought i was gonna find. Somebody knows where it is.

Wild vents. Should be a couple threads in the faq section.
