The crank sensor for our year are hard to come by, but they are available. Rockauto has them in and out of stock, or ebay always has one or two listed. Here is one on ebay for your year. Crank sensor

Make sure the connector matches yours. Some listed sensors will not fit even though they claim it's correct for the year.

Default Crank sensor installed

Installed the sensor and tried to start 1 more time and just the starter was doing it's thing. I stopped by the Sacramento Dodge dealership today to see if I could find a shop manual for the 2001 Ram 2500 8.0 L and the book has been discontinued. Now I am at a loss for words. At the last minute I caught a well seasoned mechanic walking towards the shop and I stopped him so that maybe I could get some k owledge from him. As it goes he was very familiar with the 8.0 L he said that maybe it's ground stripe loose some where and he started talking about a module called a tipon it's located on the left side of the engine compartment next to the fuse box. Now I tried testing that to the best of my k pledge. I k ow what a multimeter is but the settings on it boggle my brain. What is the next step or course of action should I be trouble shooting. PCM, I GET POWER There but still no spark. Probably the. Coil pack I'm thinking... what do you think before I replace the PCM, and coil packs.

looks like most of the parts for this year make and model are obsolete or oem parts. The viper engine is the same but discontinued as of this year. Not to many dodge 2t500 v 10 around anymore. Mine is staying o the road come he'll or high water. You know what I'm saying. Anyways thanks for your input my friend. Like always I'll be putting I. Work on the dodge until I figure it out. Work in progress til I die.

Have you checked for voltage reference to the crank sensor (and to the coil packs)? If you had problems right after changing the oil pressure switch, you might have bumped/snagged the wire to the connector making a bad connection.

There are youtube videos that can help you understand with the multimeter a little better.

Default Thanks

Yea I thought about the YouTube videos after I sent that message. I'm am. Coming to the conclusion that my coil packs are the real culprit. They have juice going in but nothing coming out. So that is my next step and hopefully the fix for this situation. Although in the very near future sometime this year the d ole dodge is getting a new life. She is going to get stripped down to her frame so that I can get the salt water rust that my father passed down to me off. He lived in Mississippi and every time a hurricane came through the area. ( katrina) he would go down to the beach area and splash around in the salt water helping people. Return home and never wash the undercarriage off. Every thing is tack welded together bolts nuts struts springs everything. So when I get to that point I'll be back on here looking for some part that's been either deleted or discontinued.
I really appreciate your knowledge. You've showed me other ways of getti g it do e and trouble shooting the dinosaur.
I'll let you know about the coil packs when I'm done. He'll I might not even find them any where. Might have to build them myself. That will be a funny one. Later

Just a heads up, the aluminum Viper V10 and the cast iron Magnum V10 in the 2500/3500 trucks are NOT the same motor and very few, if any, parts are interchangeable.

The coil packs are available just about anywhere and downloading that manual will really help with the troubleshooting.

I'm pretty sure the coil packs themselves aren't gonna go to zero function overnight.

Considering there are two separate coil packs, one dealing with four cylinders, the other dealing with six, the odds of both of them failing at the same time are pretty small. If you aren't getting spark, from any of them, then you have a bad sensor, or wiring somewhere.
