2001 ram 2500 8.0L
I got a beautiful Ram 2500 8.0L it has treated my father great and myself also. I came upon a problem with a sensor for the oil pressure gauge. It was bouncing all over the place. So I thought that I would replace it and all would be good. Well after replacing it I had no oil pressure via the gauge, but the engine was fine so I thought maybe I got a bad switch. So this time I switched out the oil pressure switch and went to start it and all I got was the starter trying to start the engine. I have done test after test to trouble shoot this issue. I have no codes in the memory, Ive replaced all the wires for the spark plugs, tested for power to the fuse blocks. I am at a loss for what it might be. A friend stopped by to trouble shoot for me and came up with his theory of a bad crankshaft sensor. I don't know if I buy that idea. I got in the truck today just to see if there m8ght have been a magic wand fixed my truck but as we all know that didn't happen. But I did notice that the instrument panel, where the mileage is displayed had a code of some sort. It was "No bus". Didn't understand that. I look up where the navigation for east west not and South along with the ambient temperature is displayed and it has cmtmm or something of that displayed. So now I am completely detached from what I thought was the best truck ever made. To me anyways. Can someone here help me to get "earsel" back into action. Most truck of this age if they are still alive have about 3 to 5 hundred thousand miles. Earsel just broke a 100,000. So we have a long way to go. Besides it's the only thing I have left of my father, and I'm not giving up. PLEASE HELP
Need to find out what's missing. Spark, or fuel. The 'no bus' in the odometer indicates a probable failing sensor somewhere. So, check for spark, see if you are getting any. (and be careful, the coil packs are POWERFUL, and can really do a number on your nervous system if you take the hit.)
Check at least four plugs, on separate coil packs for spark. Make sure it isn't just a failed module. (which would kill either four, or six cylinders.) If you aren't getting any spark at all, need to find out why. Could be as simple as a bad crank sensor, or as bad as a failed PCM......

No codes by the PCM so I am going to try the position sensor. I just found the sensor today and it looks like it needs replacing..
All equipment on the truck is orginal except for the cats and muffler, water pump. So I'm thinging maintenance should be at the top of the list. It only had 69,000 miles when I got it. So some love and care, besides I am going to have the entire truck back to brand new in a month or two and customized to my standards.
Thanks for your knowledge. It is much appreciated. If there are any problems after this issue I'll be back. and if there isnt any issues, I'll still be back
