Hi, I have a 97 ram 1500 sport with the 5.9l v8 that o rolled recently and was wondering what years of cabs would fit. I've heard 94 to 01 will work and just wanted confirmation.
I believe the cabs are the same, but electronics and interiors will be different. You should be able to swap your harnesses and stuff into the donor cab.
Will the electronics still be compatible? I know its gonna take a lot of time and whatnot I just need to know if it's actually doable to put a 01 cab onto a 97 fram

Electronics are no compatible unless you change the computer and fuse box
You can use cabs from 94 to 97. In 98, the cab floor changed. If you get a 96 or 97 cab, all the electronics are the same. 94-95 is obdi, so, I *think* just the stuff under the hood would have to change, interior harness should be the same.

98 will bolt up just he would have to use his wiring and dash from his cab

There would be other electrical issues as well, he would have to use his entire dash, as the shape of the cluster changed as well. Seat belt mounting locations moved too, from the cab, to the seat, and the control module is different, as is the electrical connector for it. There are numerous other small differences, that would make the swap a right pain in the keester.

Basically all of the interior minus the seats, carpet, and headliner I get what your are saying but it is possible if that's what he wants.

True. Anything is possible if you are determined enough. Is it worth the effort though? Suppose it greatly depends on what cab is easily found, in acceptable condition.

In PA your can get a full 01 quad cab with interior and doors for $250 with no rust (only reason I know is I bought one for the 01 2500 that is a 1500 at the moment)
