Ok so I keep having a problem of the vacuum diaphragm filling with gear oil. And since I'm putting the factory 2500 axles in using EMS OffRoad single axle, I didn't want to spend much on this 1500 axle. If you want to eliminate the CAD you have 3 options:
1. Buy EMS OffRoad one piece axle (I recommend this as for $250 you not only get the Chromoly axle but it also puts the axle seal right at the ends of the tube)
2. A perma-lock
3. Modify the CAD (what I did)
3.1 using a hose clamp
3.2 using the "C" clips already in there
Some may ask what about the Posi-Lok? Well it is complete garbage. I tried it customers at my shop tried it and they all hate it. It's hard to adjust, you have to move to engage it, etc.

Now some may ask is engaging the CAD permanently in the 4wd position bad? No. 01.5 they got rid of the CAD, and the new trucks don't have a CAD. All the components in the front spin in 2wd so no excess wear. Fuel mileage may go down but I don't think it will.

All you need is a hose clamp (option #3.1) or pull the one "c" clip slide the fork over and reinstall the "c" clip you took out (option #3.2).
I did option #1. Pull the shaft over and install the hose clamp. You can move the 4wd indicator switch to the transfer case (using a 02 1500 4wd switch) by removing the vacuum switch and install the new 4wd indicator switch. If you don't the 4wd light won't light up (option #3.2) or constantly be on (option #3.1 the one I used). Your transfer case should have an auxiliary breather as mine did. Here is what option #3.1 looks like.

 

I have the posi lok and I like it. I got the cheap version that stays locked though. Not the cable deal. I'll have to look into making the 4WD light work again.

Well this year on the agenda are getting the parts out of the garage and onto the truck. These include:
Hydro Assist
Regear 60/80 and paint them
Finishing painting the frame
Do the cab swap w/the 02 Electronics
Motor swap
Mounting the 44s
Off-road bumpers
Install the winch
And finally the body lift

 

So here is my vacuum at idle so the truck is still producing adequate vacuum. Don't know why I still have wild vents. Also just some light pictures

 

Install a larger vacuum reservoir, and make sure it is on the HVAC control side of the check valve.

 

As soon as I find one that I like the look of install it after the HVAC check valve?

 

Yep, you want the control head to be able to draw vacuum from the reservoir when the engine isn't producing enough to keep things in place.

I think the stock one is under the cowl, with the windshield wiper mechanism, etc..... may just add a second one....
