If you remember taking the exhaust out after the xmember, then you'll have to put it in first. Maybe stick it up beside the trans and strap it somehow (not completely installed) just so you can get the xmember in place.

I finally got the exhaust in, it was a real PITA. I had to reposition the trans jack back 1 to 2 inches to give enough clearance.

Everything is back together and the new clutch works great. My son learned a lot of valuable lessons during this project. We made some mistakes along the way, but it was his, and my first time doing a clutch.

Thank you to everyone for the help and support in getting us through this project successfully.

Glad you got it together! My father always said (even to this day) knowledge is the most valuable thing a person can have.

Curious what clutch you installed. I did mine (first time) two years ago with the upgraded Sachs 12" kit. It sucks. Have horrible gritty pedal since day one. And it's not the hydraulics. Doesn't smell or make noise but is terrible to drive. The job was so much work I swore I would never do it again. But I can't trust shops to do it so I'm just driving it til it blows.

If I remember correctly it was the Sachs 11" kit and Sachs flywheel for the 11" clutch. I'm not sure I would notice the difference between a good clutch kit and an inferior one, but this one seems to be doing the job just fine. It shifts fine, the pedal feel seems normal to me and it does not make any noise. I did have some odor the first couple of times I drove it. I'm assuming that happens during the break-in period.

I know this is an old thread, but I'm looking to use the same Fitzall Input Shaft Repair Kit, i was wondering how the trans is holding up? I'm curious of the longevity of the sleeve and bearing to see if it's really worth the money.
