Default Oil not registering on dipstick after plenum repair

I replaced the plenum on a 5.2 engine (also changed valve cover gaskets) i drained old oil before the repair and added new oil after the repair. Drove it maybe 3 miles and let everything cool down, checked oil and it was dry. There is no oil leakage from drain plug, filter, or valve covers. any ideas?

I only put ~4 quarts of oil.Interestingly enough now after todays test drive, the oil guage has been reading low oil pressure and when i pulled into my drive way the oil guage dropped down to 0, but it doesnt sound like there are any knocking or lubriction issues. Bad guage or bad oil pump?

I would put a mechanical gauge on it, and see what oil pressure REALLY is.... take it from there.

Oil change (with filter replaced) should need about 5.5 quarts and then check the dipstick.

The 5.2 takes five with filter to the top of full mark.

That could be. I always remembered doing 5.5 on my durango.

I shouldn't say "that could be right", cause 5 quarts is indeed what it calls for. I read around and seems others have experienced this "issue" as well. That's kind of odd.

Both 5.2 and 5.9 are the same but if you use large filter(fram PH8A) it's slightly more.

I added an addition 1 quart, and disconnected the oil sender unit and sprayed it down with some CRC and reconnected. drove 3 miles and havent had an issue since. Thanks for all the help!
