Actually bought OEM lights, still waiting to get them, I have a PN for the replacement harness which of course is unavailable, found one at a salvage yard but have not picked it up yet. Installed an OEM headlight switch with a pull out function, installed a fog lamp relay in the fuse box, I know all is working, when I put the new lamp switch in and the relay the fog light function illuminates, cross checked this with the relay taken out and the light does not come on. Checked for voltage coming out of the connector shown in the prior image but there is nothing coming out of it, guessing it is for something else. There is another connector on the passenger side beneath the headlights, it has a relay in it, if I take it out the passenger parking light turns off, none of the other pins have power with the fog lamp switch turned on, perplexing but think the actual harness to the fog lamps must complete the circuits and allow the fog lamps to come on, just a guess though. Hoping to proof this out when I get the new harness.
I am looking for someone that has a 2001 with the fog lamps and plan to crawl underneath to see if how and where they are connected. If anyone reading this thread has a 2001 with fog lamps I would appreciate a picture.

Factory type fog lamps are fairly useless. They are more driving lamps than anything else and really don't do much besides make a little more profit for the dealer. If you want a REAL fog lamp you want a yellow fluted lens that will project a flat topped beam when turned on. The projector style fog lamps actually degrade vision as the beam spreads up and causes glare.

Good to know, not all about as you describe, trying to maintain a stock function, I have Rigid Driving lights in addition to these for visibility, appreciate your input none the less.
