I guys new to the forum. I have a 99 3500 Sport Diesel Quad cab, when I start it and release the parking brake the light goes out, same for the seat belt light when the belt is connected, about ten minutes later both come back on at the same time, neither light goes out till I shut if off and then start it again. I have tried lifting the parking brake with my foot, and clicking the seat belts nothing changes, same if there is a passenger or not. There are no codes showing. Any ideas? Thanks Tad

 

I don't *think* those are connected in any way...... Unless something odd is going on in the cluster..... are both lights lit up nice and bright? Can you post a pic?

The seatbelt light is controlled by a switch in the mechanism and run through a connection under the driver's seat. You will see a white junction connector. Unplug it and clean/blow it out. Reseat it fully for a good click. Mine would intermittently come on for years after I got it in 01. This trick always helped but the last time was several years ago now and it has not come back.

The brake is under the dash I think but will also illumine for certain codes like the speed sensor. Check codes off the pcm.
