Hi guys I’m going to be atempting to replace my transfer case in my 2000 5.9 cummins I have a 2 post lift and trans jack is there anything I should watch out for or be prepared for any advise would be helpful thanks
It's pretty easy to do, disconnect the driveshafts, pull the vacuum line fitting on the top and breather tube, and take the 6 mounting nuts off and it should slide right off.
T-case isn't even too heavy. I didn't even lift my truck (stock height), nor used any jacks when I wrestled the t-case off from the truck and back. Two separate occcasions.

Yes the 231 and 241 can be done by hand, but the 271 is more of a challenge, I use a transmission jack on those.
