Default p 1391 after new distributor?

I have a 2001 ram 1500 with a 5.9 and almost 200k, I just went through the nightmare of removing all rusty, stubborn spark plugs and the shop replaced my ignition coil and distributor. When I picked it up that night it could hardly movie without stalling and the idle was all over the place, I left it with him and he fixed the timing. I picked it up a day later and it drove like a dream. The next morning it was stumbling, only while cold though, the rpms would drop down to like 500 then kick back up again. It would do this 4 or 6 times until the truck warmed up then it was fine. Today, same thing except now there is a new code p 1391 which has to do with the censor in the distributor or the crank shaft censor or so I have read. I am dropping it back off tonight and he said it might still be with the timing. Any idea? Is it just timing or will I need to order some new parts?

Timing is not adjustable. Did he replace the entire distributor? If that is the case, then fuel sync needs to be properly reset. (an no, you can NOT do it 'by ear'. Need a scan tool that will read it, to set it correctly.
