Hey guys, kinda new to the site, been searching out alot of great info here! The one thing I haven't seen mentioned was a DIY for a dual intake. Has anyone here done that before? My biggest problem so far is finding something like a low-profile hat that will fit onto the throttle body and clear the stock hood with a 90* bend. Everything I found looks like it's meant for a carberator with a wing nut on top. Does anyone have any thoughts or suggestions or a part# for something that will work?
Before anyone says that it's dumb or won't gain any extra power.... please note that it's for a customers truck and if he's willing to pay for it, I'm willing to do it...
Thanks guys!
I added a few pictures to give you an idea of what I'm thinking and the parts I found so far.
Let me know what you think!
Z bolt... is that for the wing nut in the center on the hat? Any idea what size and thread that hole in the throttle body would be?
Now I'm going to have to run out to the shop to take the intake off and check to see if this one has that hole!
Thanks for the quick response! You da man!
So I checked the throttle body and it does have a hole, but it's not in the true center, like a carb. Its center, but forward, since the dual throttle plates are actually in the center.... I think I'm going to need a 90* elbow that I can clamp on like the original. What do you think?
Ohhh snap! Ok. I didn't know what a "z bolt" was so now I'm assuming it's a threaded stud in the shape of a Z or an N... ok that makes sense now to counter the offset.
Thanks!!
The Dakota has a bracket with a bolt, and a stud that the hat would mount to. I put a v8 t-body on my 3.9. it was an 03 Dakota, I'm not sure if all the Magnums in the Dakota had that type of mounting for the air cleaner.
