Default 97 dodge 1500 gear slips

My 97 dodge ram 1500 gear lever is really loose when switching gears, if its in drive and I hit a bump itll pop into second or neutral. Whats wrong and how can I fix it?

Check the linkages. The bushings tend to wear out.

I took the bottom part of my dash off under the steering wheel and there a hook think that changes the gear but it's super loose so I figured that was the problem I just don't know jot to tighten it

That's just for the gear indicator in the dash. I don't even pay any attention to mine. I just count the clicks when I shift. You need to check the linkage from the bottom of the column, to the trans.
