with a tune you can count on one hand the low end loss if any. If 2bbl anyways. The 4bbl is a bit different story and is more of a traditional 4bbl single plane manifold. The 2bbl is fairly unique in style for a single plane and retains tq well. Ive towed quite a bit with mine. Dump trailers, cars, etc. Better than when it was stock

You have Flyin' Ryan's tune right? Was that a custom tune for your truck? Yes, the M1 is 2bbl.

it's a custom built tune that he developed and has setup to be reliable and safe on any stock to bolt-on truck. It's his canned tune option

Thanks! Alternator was rebuilt in the last 5k miles. Will check the crank seal though (should drop the pan anyway to check the pickup tube. Not having any issues, but been meaning to look at it).
The only reason I said alternator it will be of anyhow. The crank seal I said to check because I was losing a little oil and couldn't figure out where. When I pulled the crank pulley you could see where it was dripping.

For some reason when you said crank seal, Rear Main Seal is what registered in my head. I replaced the crank seal on the timing cover about 5k miles ago.

I figured you might have when you did the timing cover. Well then I'd just get the heads ported and polished. Now if I was doing it I would pull the engine and paint it to

Yeah, I plan on paining the heads, but I don't think this engine will be getting painted. I've pulled engines out of these trucks before, and can do that. it would just take longer.

That FlyinRyan tune - does it work with regular fuel or does it require more octane? Also, if you plan to run the 2 barrel M1, you will notice a bit of low end loss, but you can work with it with the proper rear end gear ratio/tire size.

Stock tune is regular gas, some of the more esoteric tunes will want premium.

@1997JollyGreenGiant: M1, good heads, and HEADERS. (shorties) and a nice, free-flowing exhaust, coupled with a decent tune, and you will actually GAIN bottom end torque, from where you are at now. Very nice power bump.
