merry christmas guys...
(In middle eastern voice) Oh my goodness. What are you saying that you do not like the talking to of people you can not understand when you are be having issues with your thingy mabob that goes into the thingy majig and you are not be getting it to be working right. The answer to your question is to go to the 7 11 and get a 99 cent slushy for a 1.29.lol.
On a serious note though your street may be stuck in a contract issue where no one can service it until the current contract with the last company runs out even though they are no longer in business. You would be amazed by who has wireless networks set up. I have found people in my neighborhood whose houses look like they are going to fall down and yet they are on a wireless setup.

Having wireless is no big deal. When I got set up for DSL with my phone co, I had to buy the modem. That modem was also a router for other wired computers, and it has wireless capabilities. Since I don't have a need for wireless I made sure to shut that part down so no one would piggy back on mine for free. So just about all DSL modems now probably come set up for wireless also.

These kinda contracts are ridiculous though. It's not right that a company that is longer in business can keep me from getting services like internet. And I guess they have a contract with the county, because we're not in city limits.
I wouldn't mind scouting for wireless some day, but we gotta do something pretty soon. I think my sis starts school in like a week or two.

Well currently your only other option would be to purchase a contract with a wireless carrier and get a wireless modem. I understand that they aren't too bad but you will be stuck with them for the term of the contract. maybe by the time that expires someone in your area will be servicing the neighborhood.
Thanks for the offer but since I'm here without my truck anyway...I'll just wait until either my internet picks back up to it's normal speed or until I get back in the states and it could actually be usefull.
lol, well I'm usually out doing things but lately, since I'm going to be getting my next assignment in the next month, I've been getting excited about finally returning to the states and being able to drive my truck again. So I've been spending a good amount of time reading stuff and trying to make my mind up on what I do.
Okay...don't you just love it when you have one of those moments that makes you feel like on of the biggest idiots around? Well, I was one of those for the last 3 weeks...I just figured out and solved my slow internet problem. About 7-ish weeks ago, my main harddrive crashed...couldn't use it as a boot drive anymore. Roughly 4 weeks ago, I got my computer back up and running like normal and a week later my internet started screwing up on me and for the last week it's really been screwed up on me. Well, after some time screwing around with my computer I remembered the one thing I haven't tried yet to fix my internet and it should have been one of the first things I should have done after I got my computer back up and running...I never reset my modem. I done the hard resets (pulling power cord) but I never reset the little black button on the back. Now my internet is running faster then ever after setting up new networks and I'm downloading this manual in 20 minutes which for it's size is not bad at all for my connection
I have a 99 service manual, will edit when its uploaded.
