Default Is it worth it to get headers installed on my 01?

I was thinking about getting some headers since I have to get my passenger side manifold replaced (driver side I replaced last year. I have some money saved up so figured it couldn't be a bad idea. Is it worth it to get get both manifolds replaced for some headers? It's the Magnum v8 360, everything is stock on the truck except for the muffler. I'm getting the factory intake put back on due to the fact the CAI won't mount on correctly. Will I see some decent gains on this older truck?

Since you have to replace one of them anyway, doing some shorties wouldn't hurt you any. All by themselves, you may or may not notice anything different.

Alright thank you. Any recommendation for a good set of headers for this truck?

Depends on how much you wanna spend. Pickin's are gettin' slim, as aftermarket support dwindles away for a truck that the last one rolled off the assembly line 16 plus years ago...... Dodge doesn't even use these motors any more. If you want them to last, see if you can find stainless, or coated headers, use some of the remflex deadsoft copper, or aluminum gaskets. They are a LOT less prone to leaking.....

Ebay had a set of ceramic coated stainless shorties for $299 shipped and long tubes for $399 shipped. That was about a month ago

That doesn't sound bad at all. 399. I did read ceramic coated is best as well.

You want ceramic coated headers as it helps with keeping them nice and the heat from the exhaust. You can also get them coated though if you find a cheap pair of stainless steel ones. I don't know how much that costs. You do want shorties though as it helps with low end power. Here is a screenshot of the first three results, looks like you can get a set for $70:

Keep in mind, if you go with long-tubes, there will be a fair bit of finagling to hook up the rest of the exhaust as well. Shorties are usually a direct swap.

In my opinion you're better off with manifolds. They will seal better and be much cheaper. The flanges on the headers will always be much thinner than the manifolds- they're always prone to leaking. The engine in that truck will probably benefit almost nothing from the headers either.

As previously mentioned, if you use long tube headers you'll also have to get the rest of the system built behind them.
