Default helping a friend with refreshed 1999 318 in a ram1500

Hey every one need a helping hand here i am helping a friend , just replaced the engine in his aging 1999 dodge ram1500 we took the old engine out but before i could mark anything he sent it off to the rebuilder now a month and a half later engine is back all freshened up the damper is already marked ans set at TDC but when i go to install the distributor the rotor does not align up with the "no 1 cyl" mark on the magnetic pick up coil like i have been reading it should if i am reading it right i can just move the oil pump drive with a large flat head so the rotor align with the mark then tighten it down and set the injector timing with a scan tool and if that is the case i have a otc genisis scan tool the one before the evo but it the complete package thank for you help

Verify that number one cylinder is at top dead center, and both valves are close. (meaning it is in firing position.) Then adjust the oil pump drive as needed to get the rotor to line up properly.
