even though I’m getting the code p1389? Ignition is only 2 months old, could shorting the coolant sensor against the alt cable 12v burn a ignition coil out?

The ignition coil gets power from the auto shutdown relay just like the PCM ASD input which causes P1389. I'd bet you have low voltage after the ASD. BTW the injectors get power the same way so they might not be operating correctly as well.
BTW I may have missed this, which year is the truck ? There are some wiring differences around the ASD power between earlier and later models.

does anyone here know if a 2003 5.9l engine is an interference engine? The timing chain on my dodge durango broke. thanks.

it’s a 99 5.2, my coil is under warranty so I’ll change it out and try that. I’ll have to watch some videos on using a multi meter I have no expierence with those
