Truck will stall going into reverse and won’t leave 2en gear
I have a 97 Dodge Ram with the 5.2l v8. Since I’ve owned the truck it’s been a it’s been a damn good truck but I had a problem with the catalytic converter. I replaced 3 of them in the 2 years if own the truck and here recently it clogged up again. I decided to gut the cat and be done with it. The truck was running good and everything( although the clogged cat) but after I gutted the cat I fired up the truck and it was on point fired right up with no issues. I put it in drive and go and it did fine. I go to put the truck in reverse and it back fires and dies and loose all RPMs. I decided to take the truck down the road hoping it would fix its self and then realized the truck won’t leave second gear and won’t leave 1st gear after it warms up.. at the time I didn’t have a check light and it kinda had me at a stand still. I decided to put my code reader on it for the hell of it and I gave me a code for my crank shaft postings sensor. I haven’t had a chance to play with the truck yet but let’s keep note everything was perfectly fine b4 I gutted the cat. Can someone give me some good solid ideas on how to fix with out putting another cat on the truck. :Note- I live in a county we’re I don’t need to pass smog so I’ll be ok with out a can and muffler.

Check all the wiring to the oxygen sensors. They are powered from the auto shutdown relay and if there's a short it affects the injector and coil power too.
On another note, if you went through 3 cats in two years there's something else wrong. High oil consumption, coolant disappearing, really bad mpg ?
