Is the TV cable for the transmission adjusted right? The bracket is a cheap setup and breaks pretty easily when your back there changing the cap and wires. Were they cheap wires? Were the wires replaced one at a time, could be there are 2 wires crossed or they could be off one around the whole cap. Solid core wires vice resistor wires, this is way out there and I don't know how fickle these computers are. Is the cap seated on the distributor and tightened down, the rotor pushed all the way down, the cap put on 180* out? The sulfur smell might be coming from the cat because it's being over loaded with gas because the computer is trying to keep it in the 14/1 ratio to keep the cat alive. If you didn't mess with anything except installing the wire/cap/rotor, removing the air box off from the throttle body, and everything worked like normal before the parts were replaced, it should run normally and if not most likely the parts that were installed. The resistance in the coil right? Check everything you did and don't say I already checked it because I know I did it right. 40 years of being a mechanic, I've done something simple stupid wrong.
