Again, take the cap off the loose one in the first video. Takes only one rod to install a nice window in your block. Also, lets see the rod/journal cleaned up that you removed as well. Sometimes pictures make things look better than they are.

I don't know about you but that window would decrease engine temp by at least 65% and we all know gas engines like the cold.... Shame they didn't come factory installed

Can someone please provide me with the proper torque specs for the rod caps? I think autozones website said 45ft but I’d imagine there’s an angle as well. I got my plastigage and I’m ready to get into it today hopefully. Thankyou

I bought a Haynes manual and can’t find the specs in there yet either.. I did read how they determine if the timing chain needs replacement.
Put a load on the crankshaft without allowing it to turn and measure the gap in the chain, if over 1/8” replace entire assembly.

Not sure how I found the necessary bearing clearances so easily but can’t find the rod cap torque spec, which is required to get the proper clearance. Ha

This is moving pretty slowly Lets get the lead out!
Why are you not using the Factory Service Manual (FSM? Here is the page you need out of the 2001 FSM I downloaded from the DodgeForum. Note it says 45 ft/lbs on step #8.

Just out of curiosity. Had did you determine you needed a new head gasket?

Looks like fun. I am doing virtually the same stuff lol. I have a 5.2 318 though.

Well I changed all my rod bearings, replaced valve cover gaskets and both upper and lower intake gaskets. Cleaned out oil pump rotors replaced timing chain cover gasket, water pump and thermostat, temp sensor.. I’m now going through the harness and vac lines and hoses..
Here I’m a little confused it’s been a while.
theres a hose on the back of the upper intake, about two feet long not sure what the other end connects to.
there’s a port on the left side of the upper intake with no hose on it. And there is a hose that comes out of the pass side valve cover. I believe one of these is the pcv. I’m hoping someone has some pics, and could guide me where to get a vac harness +diagram. Two lines are cracked I’ll try to upload pics. I’m so close to getting this thing together lol
