Yep, it's a common problem as the trucks aged. I don't think they originally came with two check valves, may have come with none..... don't know. Will the additional canister make a difference? Depends on the size. 
Bigger it is, the less of an issue it will be. Might even be able to find room under the cowl to mount it. So, out of sight.

Okay thanks guys, tomorrow I will get once from autozone, the black circle universal one again. Install it after the HVAC check valve and report back. Fingers cross this works!

You can read the tsb here. Make sure you put the the check valves on the correct way or they will do nothing to solve the issue. I replaced my check valves with napa units. https://www.napaonline.com/en/p/NDP7301349

If you install them backwards, the vents won't work at all.
